First Thoughts
So, it's the beginning of a year. Our challenge: create an cinematic scene of a movie. I don't know much about 3D cinematics or animation, but I have been looking more and more into programs such as Substance Designer and Unreal 4 (the software we are publishing this in), so I'm hoping I have more skills than last year in executing this.
For ideas, my mind went instantly to the Great Gatsby, as it's one of my favourite movies, and each scene is unique and yet fits together with the whole movie. This means there's a lot of choices for scenes. Nick Caraway's Cottage, inside AND out. Gatsby's Mansion, along with many of the rooms explored in the movie. The city, and it's hotels. George's garage, and the railway beside it. Daisy and Tom's Mansion, and the beautiful intro with the curtains (along with it's vast gardens). I'm spoilt for choices.
I'm currently tied with Gatsby's pool and the hotel room Tom, Daisy, Jordan, Nick and Gatsby all go to.
Both scenes are very different, and I think the hotel scene has much more content inside than the pool. However, the pool has more lighting and effects to add, which I think would be way more fun to play around with. I'd need to think on it more, but I personally think the pool is more manageable, and can be expanded with part of the mansion as well if there is time.
But I'll be sure to watch the movie about 5 more times before choosing my scene.
